Regional Geology of Central Java Field Trip, Yogyakarta - Semarang

Central Java Province are located in the middle of Java Island. This province famous for its volcanoes, spreading across this land. Legend said that gods put volcanoes in this region to give balance in Java island. Thus, this region is the best place to learn and study about volcano. in this fieldtrip, participant will see the evidence of volcanic activity since million of years ago. The Audience will be also guided to local tourist destinations in Yogyakarta, Kebumen and Wonosobo, Indonesia.

DAY 1 – Main Field Trip Activity

  • Arrival in Yogyakarta and technical briefing
  • Geotourism: Yogyakarta culinary and city tour.

 

DAY 2 – Main Field Trip Activity

  • Observation and discussion about the old andesite formation in Begelen, Halang formation in Kebumen and Central Java Suture in Karangsambung.
  • Geotourism: Kebumen culinary and city tour.

 

DAY 3 – Main Field Trip Activity

  • Observation and discussion about Penosogan formation in Wadaslintang Dam and Kemutuk river, Waturanda formation in Kaliwiro.
  • Geotourism: Wadaslintang Dam tour

 

DAY 4 – Main Field Trip Activity

  • Observation and discussion about the evolution of the Sindoro-Sumbing-Telomoyo-Ungaran volcanoes, Rawa Pening formation, temple anticlinorium and Cipluk oil field.
  • Geotourism: Rawa Pening tour

 

DAY 5 – Main Field Trip Activity

  • Departure from Semarang
  • Geotourism: Souvenir shopping tour

Field trip leader is academician with PhD in Geology from Departemen Teknik Geologi Universitas Gadjah Mada

Every month from January – December based on the minimum participants quota (minimum 15 participants). The training will be delivered in field trip from Yogyakarta to Semarang, Indonesia.
