Financial Planning & Geopreneurship Workshop

Course Objective

This program is designed to help employees develop the skills needed to manage the funds they receive upon entering retirement, ensuring that these funds are sufficient to meet their living needs. This capability will greatly assist employees in managing their finances effectively and allocating their retirement funds wisely. In addition, case studies on business development in the geoscience sector (particularly oil and gas) are provided to help participants explore their potential, expand their professional networks, and build the mindset required to start a business in the geoscience field.

Instructor

Our instructors are seasoned professionals with extensive experience and a proven track record in their respective fields. The first instructor is a Certified Financial Planner with over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, supported by a multidisciplinary academic background spanning economics, engineering, and postgraduate studies in investment management both domestically and internationally. After gaining experience in the national banking sector, she has been practicing as a financial planner since 2007 and currently leads a financial consulting firm specializing in strategic financial planning and fund management.

The second instructor brings more than 20 years of experience in Data Management and over a decade of entrepreneurial expertise. With an academic background in geological engineering, he built his career in the oil and gas industry with multinational companies before establishing and leading consulting and training firms in the geoscience sector, while also expanding business ventures in the tourism industry. The combination of their financial, technical, and entrepreneurial expertise provides participants with a comprehensive, practical, and results-oriented learning perspective.

  • The concept of Time Value of Money (TVM) and its application in household financial management
  • Family Financial Records: net worth (balance sheet), cash records (cash flow statement), financial ratios, and emergency fund assessment
  • Evaluation of savings rate, asset level, debt level, emergency fund adequacy, and retirement readiness

Retirement Fund Planning

  • Calculating retirement needs (replacement ratio method and expense method) using the Time Value of Money concept
  • Planning retirement income sources (retirement asset allocation strategy)
  • Funding potential shortfalls, pension program schemes in Indonesia, and annuity products
  • Common mistakes in retirement planning (impact of inflation, etc.)

Insurance Planning and Personal Risk Management

  • Fundamental principles and insurance contract provisions that consumers need to understand
  • Types of insurance: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Long-Term Insurance, and Unit-Linked Products
  1. Life Insurance: Term life policy, limited-payment whole life policy, whole life insurance compared to term policies and investment products
  2. Term Insurance: Level benefit, decreasing benefit, increasing benefit, family income benefit, and their respective purposes
  3. Endowment Insurance
  4. Riders, General Insurance, and other supplementary coverage
  5. PAYDI: Investment-linked insurance products (unit-linked policies)
  6. Other essential insurance products that should be introduced and explained

  • Comprehensive financial assessment, including financial goal setting, asset-liability balance sheet, and household cash flow analysis.
  • Calculation of financial needs based on the family’s financial goals.

    1. Monthly Financial Needs After Layoff (Short-Term)
    a. Calculation of asset sources that can generate returns to cover monthly expenses
    b. Selection of suitable financial and investment products

    2. Education Fund (Long-Term)
    a. Calculation of the education funding plan

    3. Retirement Needs (Long-Term)
    a. Calculation of the retirement funding plan
    b. Selection of financial and investment products

    4. Other Investment Goals (Entrepreneurship, etc.)

  • Conducting an insurance needs analysis based on a financial checkup and personal goals.
